Functions, Duties & Rights
- To maintain records of the folk musical heritage distributed throughout Nepal and to make efforts for its development.
- To conduct and facilitate studies and research on indigenous Nepali folk music.
- To prepare and maintain a list of active talents and organizations working in the field of folk music across the country.
- To represent, or ensure representation, in international activities related to folk music.
- To establish and expand contacts, coordination, and collaboration with local, national, and international talents and organizations related to folk music.
- To preserve the folk musical heritage of Nepal.
- To encourage the preservation of folk musical heritage specific to particular ethnic groups, communities, and regions.
- To organize workshops, seminars, training programs, and competitions for the development of Nepali folk music.
- To recognize and honor talents and related organizations contributing to the development of Nepali folk music.
- To coordinate with other departments and undertake joint activities to the extent possible.
- To form and operate committees related to indigenous, ethnic, Madhesi, and Dalit communities for the promotion of folk music.
